Sheila Barnes Lee is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Licensed Substance Abuse Advisor in the State of New Mexico. Sheila began her professional career working with children with physical and intellectual disabilities. Sheila knew she had found her niche when she witnessed these children gain confidence and accomplish their goals.
Sheila earned her Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling at New Mexico Highlands University. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of New Mexico. Sheila is a Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate in the State of Colorado.
After finishing her master’s degree, Sheila worked in several outpatient settings using holistic approaches to facilitate mental and physical wellness for the individuals and their families.
Sheila also worked in a Residential Treatment Center for young girls with self-harming behaviors, PTSD, Reactive Attachment Disorder, and Oppositional Defiant Disorder.
Sheila has implemented client-centered therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and mindfulness meditation to assist individuals with building safe and healthy relationships.
Sheila recognizes and respects diverse cultural backgrounds, expressions, and values.
